Premier Bernard Lord reviews results of Jobs Unlimited's
most recent employment campaign with Brad Slauenwhite, Past
Executive director, who retired at year's end, 2002, and Past
Executive Director Paul Blanchard

Premier Lord was guest speaker at the Jobs Unlimited Employers' Night in October 2000, and retains a strong interest in helping individuals facing barriers to employment. He enthusiastically supports the efforts of Jobs Unlimited and encourages all employers to take advantage of their services.

Slauenwhite pointed out that the Premier and his government had shown strong leadership and that over his 20 years with the agency, Jobs Unlimited clients had either been directly employed, or benefited from training opportunities through nine (9) government departments and agencies. Government has walked the talk over the years.

Blanchard explained that even though economic experts indicate the country is in a recession, the Jobs Unlimited employment campaign, which had started in late September, had been relatively successful. The campaign has placed 31 individuals to date, and hopes to reach its target of 40 by December 20, 2001.

Blanchard credited the success of the campaign to an experienced staff of counselors at Jobs Unlimited, as well as the continued support of the community. The Jobs Unlimited network of city employers, built up over twenty years of work, has resulted in a relationship with employers where credibility and long term service have ensured a warm reception from employers. "When you have seasoned staff working with employers who know and trust them, you tend to get results" said Blanchard.
